  • The Woke Mixer

Woke Weebs is back at it again with another mixer! This time we've partnered up again with Anime Los Angeles to bring you a mixer at the D Street Bar & Grill inside the Ontario Gateway Hotel. You MUST have an ALA badge for admission. Come wind down after a long day of panels and cosplay and hang out with other woke anime fans!

    Meet the Team

"I'm grateful to see where the growth has taken us. It's important to be woke because we are NOT living in an equal society. Systemic oppression is real and I've committed to working hard to dismantling that so all people can live their lives with the resources they need and be their truest selves."

    About

Woke Weebs is a community organization based in Los Angeles that brings anime fans, community leaders, and industry professionals together to meet, connect, and collaborate. Founded in 2016, it started as an online forum to bring weebs (short for the slang ‘weeaboo’ which means non-Japanese person who’s fond of Japanese pop culture) together to discuss pop culture and the fandom community through an intersectional, inclusive lens. Woke Weebs produces events such as social mixers, performance art showcases, and produces its own digital content that highlights the weeb culture of Los Angeles.

Woke Stage is a performance art series that showcases talent from the fandom community! Our first night will be held at Little Tokyo's Centenary United Methodist Church on August 17th. $5 recommended donation for entry. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Centenary United Methodist Church.

LAfter a long day of cosplaying and shopping at Crunchyroll Expo or MagFest, come wind down with Woke Weebs and Anime Feminist with some casual drinks and great conversations! No badge required! Just come and meet new woke friends!

Come join us on Friday, October 27th at the new Rhythm Room in downtown LA to celebrate Halloween! It's a costume party so come in your best, non-appropriating costumes! Free admission at the door. This venue is a bar, so only 21+ guests are allowed in. There'll be photo ops, jazz music, drinks, and an opportunity to connect with other like-minded folks about anime, geekiness, and social issues.
